  • Light on no one in

    Hi,
Here is another color conversion to mono/split tone useing PS 7 and adjustment layers. Comments, observations and criticisms welcome. I am hopeing the split tone effect will show up on the screen. I have posted the mono and split toned versions.

I am finding it difficult to say which one I like better..
There is almost a water color quality to the images somehow.

    Good stuff!

The first one I like a bit better but there is little between them. Both are great.
The lights and darks mix very well and there is a certain Adams Family mood to them.

For me it s the first one. I specifically like the tone, it gives the picture more life, for want of a better word.

        Best Regards

Re: Light on no one in

I find both of them interesting. I think I'm definitely leaning toward the split tone version because it kinda 'pops' slightly more and seems to pick out more texture from the distant viewpoint we have of the house.

The mono's interesting too - but doesn't have quite the same'presence' for me - just a tad too 'stark and cold' and less inviting.

I'm not sure that light would be so visible from outside on what appears to be a a reasonably bright day with patches of both brightness and shadow.

I agree with Tom's "Adams Family Mood" description - very apt.

Definately prefer the second one Tinka.

            Superb work I love it!

              Hi Tinka,

I don't mind any of those 2 versions (I have a slight preference over the 1st one though), but as long as this yellow color is not there for the simple reason that makes the entire photo not realistic.

From what I see it is daytime with sunshine and any light inside any room is not visible at that time (especially from outside and from that distance), unless this yellow is the color of the glass on the specific window, which I doubted. Unless this yellow window denotes something else that I didn't understand.

              Regards

              George

I have to agree with what you seem to be saying here George. Essentially it is a false situation and in fairness somewhat cliched these days. The 'lit' window just doesn't sit right with the rest of the scene. Sorry Tinka, good try though
