Please can I have your opinions on this photo? This is the first time I have tried to take a very close up picture of a flower - or anything else, come to that matter!

Have I got the focus in the right place? It still seems to be a bit soft to me, this may be to do with my eyesight. I've adjusted the camera's viewfinder as much as I can, but it's still not quite right for my eyes (I know that sounds like an excuse but it's true. ) It was too close to use autofocus though.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Excellent colours and composition. But the highlights at the top are a little blown out and I think the focus point should be the yellow bit. You are right looks a little soft. Hope you don't mind but had a little play with the highlights and the sharpness.

    Best regards

    Josh

Excellent, thank you. I prefer your version Josh, definitely. The lighting was actually from a window on the other side of the room, and I used a tripod because the exposure was quite long. This most likely contributed to the highlights being blown out, and perhaps to the softness too.

When I focused, I aimed to get the yellow part sharp, but I was just off, I think.
