Re: Sticking my neck out
So I'll stick mine out Pops.
I think it is a very good composition, but on my screen the greens are looking a bit too saturated and yellow. (Could be my screen) I think you could bring a little more out of the sky and perhaps lift the shadows just beyond the fence a touch.
It is a lovely part of the country and it is good to see you are able to get out a bit and take a landscape. Look forward to seeing some more.

Re: Sticking my neck out
I just ran it through Lightroom and have brought out some detail in the sky. It probably isn't as you would like it, but I really am just showing you that there was detail there that wasn't showing. I also ran the grad filter over it as I am practising and I can see I haven't made a good job of it, but you can see what I am getting at. I have dulled the lighting too much on the hill, so ignore that.
Hope you don't mind Pops.

I should think Stephen should be able to give you some good advice on this one.

I'm pretty much in agreement also with what Audrey has said, particularly the sky. I'm not a fan of adding colour in this instance though and so simply made a feathered selection over the sky and decreased the brightness and exposure, which amazingly brings out a lot of detail as Audrey said, albeit a little noisy. I'm guessing the light was late afternoon and I've also enhanced the warm light on the building to enhance and make them stand out a little more. I think it just about pulls the eye away from those trees.

Re: Sticking my neck out
It's the foreground that looks out of place in the picture. Not only is it bland but takes up most of the shot. If you could have moved more towards the tree line then the branches on the right would have acted as a frame. The sky would be better dark to highlight the buildings.
