    I know this isn't spot on, but would appreciate comments as usual, still experimenting with new lens...

    Good shot - although I prefer animals to be shot at level or below their eyes if possible. I think it brings out the character.

      I'd have to agree with Gez, however I do like this image and especially the way the dogs head is highlighted with the surrounding background being much darker. It looks too as though you may have defocused the B/G, or is just the aperture used, whichever it has given the dogs coat an interesting feel, almost as though he was in mid shake

          Thanks for the comments - this was taken with my new Sigma macro at f2.8, 1/320 - which explains the blurred background for Stephen.

          The original was in landscape, but there was too much background clutter so I've trimmed to an 8 x 10 portrait size (and it's printed off a treat). Apart from that, just boosted saturation and sharpened a tad.

          She always looks like that nowadays, getting on in years!
