  • Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris)

These birds do not take to the wing easily and when they do it flight is normally very low and for short distances. I was really lucky to get this shot. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

    Camera model: Canon EOS 20D
Lens: Canon EF 100-400mm IS L USM
    Exposure: 1/3200, F5.6, ISO 200
    Focal length: 260.0mm
    Kind regards,

Lovely colours, good/clear sky and loads of details, including a good catchlight in the eye, lots of feather details and good/bright colours seen on the bird. It all came together beautifully!

It's a super shot and I can see why you're pleased with it. I would be too!

A great shot very clear, detailed and sharp, an oportunity not presented very often and not normally repeated, great capture.

That's a one in a million shot - as you say to get them in flight at all is rare but then to get them in flight high enough or at some kind of an angle that allowed a sky BG is just superb.

Also the sharpness of the picture is remarkable for the capture of flight motion

        Very well done.

What a fantastic picture, I would love to take wildlife pictures that clear. Oh well one day ... I can but dream!

You know these birds and their behaviour well. The angle is why I am pleased with this photo. Thanx for the kind words.
