Birds Eye View

I took this close up of this Pelican as i was intrigued the way they managed to look so clean given the difficulties they must have due to the size of their bill,

I was quite pleased with the result, taken at Blackbrook Zoological Park Nr Leek Staffordshire. Well worth a visit......JIM

The colours are very striking and the sharpness and detail are spot on. If I have one suggestion it would be the crop the pciture to move the eye more to the right, just a little.

I've viewed this at 4x magnification and it's quite remarkable as to how detailed this image is. The composition is something you could play with for hours and I doubt that you will improve on that either. The exposure is just about spot on, with only tiny areas of white above and infront of the eye that have a minute amount of detail missing.

A lot of judges want to see wildlife either in their natural surroundings or "Doing Something" but here you present the creature as a portrate in a way that takes it away from the Natural History catagory.

I really have enjoyed looking at this shot, it is a credit to your skills both in the photography and in the presentation of the picture.

I'm pleased Graham has chosen his words as I find difficulty in trying to give a judgement on this one as any in the critque section. Stephen has given me a nudge so here goes.

Terrific image - I have enjoyed looking at it for some time. I don't think there is anything you can do to improve it - simply superb.

A superb image which I can't fault, at 400mm ide guess you have done a bit of photoshopping on this one.
