Re: Lydgate Beach, Kauai, Hawaii
Once again I have to say I'm not in to being able to crtique a pic.
I like the image very much, the colour and the wreckage is good but I wonder if it is a little over-sharpened.
I would liked to have been there.

Thanks Barr1e
I am sure you are right regarding the sharpening and I feel it is a little over saturated.
See this link:
The rock on which consistent and accurate digital imaging workflow stands. If you don't know what colour management means, you need this board.
I posed the question here.

A nice scene Audrey, lots of interest to look at and lovely colours. Think you could have made a bit more use of the potential in the scene though. Perhaps by walking further into the picture that large log would have made great foreground interest and altered the whole perspective of the shot. Didn't you know these are props put there just for photographers

Re: Lydgate Beach, Kauai, Hawaii
I love the scene. Looks very remote! I think if you had got down & dirty closer to the waters edge, using some driftwood (which looks as though quite a bit available) as foreground interest, including the rocks..a number of corkers would be waiting to happen! I guess if you had only a short time available to you for photographic opportunities, that would be difficult! I found whilst on tour in Europe, one had time only to take 'grab opportunity shots' & still had everybody whining that I was taking too long!Jocelyn

There are others where logs are more to the foreground, but because I was hurrying (always last back onto the busOriginally posted by Stephen View PostA nice scene Audrey, lots of interest to look at and lovely colours. ) they are not as sharp as they should be. It was a photographer's paradise. I could have spent 2-3 hours there all by myself, but we were on the way to a River trip and it was only a Brief Encounter!

Hey, I'm only offering critique and suggestions, not asking for an explanation or justificationOriginally posted by Autumn View PostThere are others where logs are more to the foreground, but because I was hurrying (always last back onto the bus

Seriously though, its often the case when you are on organised trips/coach tours, that time constraints make it impossible to dwell and explore places as much as you would like

Not making excuses. Just happy to have people comment. I will try to post some more into my gallery sometime just for viewing.Originally posted by Stephen View PostHey, I'm only offering critique and suggestions, not asking for an explanation or justification

Re: Lydgate Beach, Kauai, Hawaii
I've put the rest in my gallery. They seem darker than in LightRoom but I am sure you will be able to see what an attractive place it was. Of course, it is almost a year since I took them.
I think the first one appearing, was taken through the bus window as we were leaving.
They are best viewed at the larger aspect and by pressing F11.

Audrey, I must say I think there are some better shots amongst these than the one you posted. This was OK but rather too general or representative of the area, maybe the view as you got off the bus, I'm not sure. On the other hand some of the ones you have posted in your gallery show, at least for me, a better use of the beach area in terms of photographic composition. the trees framing the scene, the dead wood adding foreground interest etc all help to make a more satisfying photo.Originally posted by Autumn View PostI've put the rest in my gallery. I know there are some good shots in there and some where I suppose I have not held the camera as still as I ought.Originally posted by Stephen View PostAudrey, I must say I think there are some better shots amongst these than the one you posted. I did a quick LR adjustment and synchronised it to them all (just for the purpose of getting them into the gallery quickly). I think I must go over them and see what else I can find in there. Although it is almost a year ago, I still get a lovely inner feeling when I see them again. Wish I could spend longer there and in many of the places we visited for just a few minutes.
One chap with a big Canon looked at me and said "It's always the people with the biggest cameras, that are last on the bus!" After that, I always tried to be on the bus before him.
