  • A Rose by any other name 01

    Hi everyone.

It's been a while since requesting feedback so here's one I'd like to get critique for. I set up on the ironing board looking down to the floor standing vase through the iron rest! I used manual settings and kept making subtle changes until I learned what looked better, given the natural light from the window. Some of the shots taken fired the on board flash, which blew the picture to bits so I covered the flash with my hand to get more suitable tones. Please also refer to the exif data.

This hands on learning is time consuming but well worth it. Please offer your best critique. Thank.

    As always,

    Gina

I'm a beginner at this critique lark, so I'll just say what I feel!

I like the colour and texture - it gives the impression of the dusty feel you get with this colour rose. The focus is quite soft at the top of the picture, but perhaps that was intentional.

I've had a look at the exif, and see you've got the same camera as me - the Canon 400d, and I thought you could turn the flash off completely?

      Hi Gina -

I'm fairly new to this too.

I certainly like what I see and I read somewhere the rose is a difficult flower to photograph. So looking at your pix I think you have done well.

The larger one reminds me of several layers of red lips - wow!
