    Re: On the Anthill

Beautiful shot Callie , i can only guess what it feels like to be able to shoot big cats in the wild , one day i've promised myself a safari trip .
The warm light really suits this shot , maybe one small critique i'd like to see the whole animal , but this is personall taste .

      Hi Bob
I will post a full monty later, this is full size, at 180 mm, no more of her was visible here. I tend to shoot detail so you guys will see a lot of mug shots

        Re: On the Anthill

        Welcome.
The first thing that struck me was the similarity of colours in foreground and backbround preventing the cat from standing out more. Then I thought the cat may be deliberately resting in "camouflage" if you know what I mean. How far were you from her and what lens?
        Many thanks
        Tom

          Hi Tom
          Thanks for looking.
it is the essence of these cats to blend in with their BG, so that they will be less conspicuous? to their pray. Details of the shoot is available in the exif data, and as sub script to the image. She was about 5 m max from us. This is full frame, so it gives an indication of how near. At 400 mm, I could fill the frame with only her head. I will post one tonight, DV.
          Regards
          Callie

Out of interest was this shot on film or digital?

              Absolutely beautiful shot.

I love the little glint in his eye, and the nice warm feel of the whole image bringing out the atmosphere of the exotic location.

              Very nice!

Thanks CK, she is a very nice lady. I was fortunate to see and shoot her on two different occations with two different cubs.

It's a beautiful picture - I love it! I'd also love to see one of her head filling the frame, if you have one.

You're so lucky to be able to watch and photograph these beautiful animals out in the wild and be able to get so close to them too.

Very, very nice shot. I like very much the colors and that "look to infinite" moment you captured the tiger.
