A charming photo, but just a little more depth of field needed to get the eyes sharp I feel

Aww he's a gorgeous little fella and he was posing ever so nicely for you too.

I think he probably moved ever so slightly as you pressed the shutter, which probably account for the slight loss of sharpness. I also suspect the focal point is more on the nose and fabric than his eyes.

Very cute and charming picture though. I like it very much.

        Re: Raccoon

The cloth seems to be in focus, just, but nothing else is, I would think that the camera has focused on the closest thing which in this case is the cloth, to avoid this set your camera on spot focusing, then whatever you point that little square in your viewfinder at will or should be in focus, so if you want the eyes in focus, as what shoud have been in this shot, then focus lock on the eyes then re frame the image.
        cheers

          Thanks all for the input.

Unfortunately my camera (Sony CD MAVICA) is the not best! The shot was taken inside a cage where orphaned raccoons are raised to an old enough age to be released back into the wild. The light was not the bust and the raccoon pulled back just a touch when I hit the shutter release. The coon then pulled back into the hammock and the picture was gone. Just shows you need to get the picture the first time!

          Thanks again for the input!

Your pic certainly got an 'awwww' from me for the cuteness of little raccoon! Pity it moved!
