This is from a visit to Battersea Power Station last week.

yes, it is the airplane that makes this picture special.
The composition, using a wide angle lens, is also nice in the sense that the buildings edges also gradually leads our eyes to the airplane. (hope you understand what i want to say - not very confident. )

Is the power station out of operation now? If that is the case, i do not know why, but surely adds more attractiveness to the picture.

I like this image, it grabs the attention, the airplane and contrasy sky make the image, the converging verticals, the sky, the plane and the Mono treatment make this a very powerful image.

Yoshi and Tinka; thank you both for your replies and I'm happy you found the image interesting.
The station has been closed since the late eighties. It was open to the public recently with a Chinese art installation set up in some of the rooms. I enjoyed the installations but the real art i found to be in the dereliction of the building.
However there is talk of refurbishment and we can only hope we don't end up with another airport lounge.
The potential for doing something right is enormous.

Hi Yoshi, Battersea Power Station is an iconic London landmark. It's close to the river Thames and it's huge, with one large chimney at each of its four corners. Its exterior structure, including the chimney stacks, is being preserved but its interior and the surrounding area is being redeveloped for living, recreation and office space. Battersea Power Station is well known for being featured on the [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd_pigs[/ame] of the Pink Floyd rock album 'Animals', complete with a flying pig!

Hi Tom,

It works. For me it is the stong lines which lead my eye to the top of the stack that make the picture. I think it would work without the plane but it actually helps sets the scale.

The mono conversion looks good as well with lots of tones.
