The Photo club is on its summer program which means we are out and about, last night we wandered around Birmingham the Symphony Hall & Gas Street area.
So I did some Pano's, not done much of this type of photography so I'm on a learning curve, all comments and tips welcome.
Hi Patrick, the first one is particularly nice. I'd like to have seen them a bit bigger. Out of interest did you stitch horizontal of vertical frames? I'm finding the latter more flexible and effective.

Hi Ian
Thanks for the opinion.
I stitched horizontal and used PTGui software, not used any other sofware so cant compare but it certainly does a good job. Hadn't thought of vertical frames I shall give it a try.
My favourite is the canal shot Gas Street Basin.
Quite amazing when stitching, if a person is in the frame and on the next frame they are in the picture, but if there is a person in the frame but not in the next there is no person, not even a ghostly image. I have been using a 50% overlap that might be the reason.

Is it possible to repost larger pictures?
Patrick
I think there are two reasons why vertical frames work better; there is less lateral distortion to correct and you get a wider vertical view, which is especially good if you want to include tall subjects or include a lot of sky.
I guess I use a one third overlap. The repeated/missing people is weird at first. Photoshop CS3 lets you selectively paint out detail in otherwise identical scenes, like people or vehicels, for example, when using multiple exposures and merging together. In theory you could have Oxford Street on a busy sunny day without any people... sounds great to me!
I think you are attaching images from an external site; you just need to link to bigger images? You can use the Insert Image button to include pictures inline rather than as icons, too.
Not so sure about the second one but I do like the other two. I also have been doing some pano's of late. Like Ian said I find it better to shot vertical frames as well. I also find it helps to add more sky and foreground detail. I now also use CS3 which is leaps and bounds over CS2 for this type of thing.

I just could not believe how much better it is now in CS3. I have done a few of late and the thing that got me was how it would just use a few tiny bits from one photo and just throw the rest away.
