  • Grey Squirrel?

I think today is the first day we have ever seen a squirrel in our garden. I expect it is a grey squirrel, but it looks like a grey and red to me.

Hand held taken through the open bedroom window. I think I had it on full zoom. It was taken with the Fuji with the 300 mm lens. The Exif says Focal Length 66.7 mm. (I would have expected it to say Focal Length 300 mm, but as I have said before I don't understand these things.)

Perhaps someone will explain that to me please.

I can see it is a bit oversaturated now with perhaps too much green, but I was pleased with it, as it was a grab shot.

That's a grey Audrey. Not as "cute" as a red (see my earlier post).

And I meant to say - pretty good shot too My work monitors are way out of whack colour-wise so someone else will have to comment on the colour I'm afraid.

300mm is the "35mm equivalent" which is pretty much the standard currency when it comes to talking about the focal length of camera lenses. 66.7mm will be the actual focal length written to EXIF. It's all to do with the size of your sensor and there will be a factor you can use to multiply the 66.7 to get to 300 which should (I think) work across the range (4.5 would be a good bet!). No doubt someone will explain that better than me but I'm supposed to be working

I'm doing budgets this week - absolutely fascinating, riveting stuff

Wish I could afford to retire early...........

Yes I did see your picture. It certainly is cute and you were lucky to see a red squirrel. I saw a black one on holiday, but it is not a very good photograph.

No, it was having a drink (from a puddle).

wow .... great shot, and hand held too .....
Your lucky to get squirrels ....I remember feeding some when I visited my parents when they lived just outside of the New Forest,
but, alas, there are none on Guernsey. Think there is some talk of putting a few 'reds' on Jersey, but don't see it somehow ... not enough trees

Besides, they really would end up 'deep fried' over there !!
