    Re: Large pans

hi pter, love the second shot, the firt one in my opinion seems to be a pano for the sake of it, and contains areas that I would be happy to crop out, such as the extreme right, and left. However, the second one is a belter, and I love the inclusion of the bird, it only adds to the scene

The second one is definetly the better one, I love the warm colours, taken at just the right time as the sun tends to disapear over the horizon behind you quite early in St Peter Port, this picturealso just misses the rising moon visible in the first pic which is a shame but clever stitching has kept the bird in. Is there a competition comming up on Panoramas that we should know about?

        Re: Large pans

        Thanks guys

I like the first pan but also see that it needs work. I think it would be better taken from the other side of the harbor that way it would not split the Islands in half and would also cut out a lot of the sea. Did you spot the plane it shows up really well at full size. I think with the second it was just to late because of the shadows that have fallen in front of the castle. The only thing about going back midday would be some cars do get parked on the walk way and that just does not look good.

No competition coming up that I know about. Its just that I find CS3 does this so much better then CS2 did that it just make you want to do more.

Oh and Happy Birthday Mo hope you are having a good one will drop your card of later.

This will be the last one for now. I went back tonight before the sun went down so low and cast nasty shadows. I like this one the best so far.

I dont think it is as good as the second one on the original peter. The inclusion of the fence at the bottom of the picture is a bit of a distraction from the castle/fort. (still nice though!)

              Re: Large pans

Think I prefer the first .... with a bit of cropping off the ends and some 'letterboxing' ....
Just seems the wall in the second 'jutts' out too much .... good stitch up though.
Glad to see your spending these warm balmy evenings well Pete ..

              Get out there ... !!

                Hi Ben and Jem

Ben if you look at the first one I posted you can see where I had to stand to take the second one. On the far right just above the car are some flood lights that are used to light the castle up at night this is where I was standing.

Jem we have to get out and when we can so I guess its a case of make hay while the sun shines. When you say you like the first one best did you mean the very first one in this post or the first one of the front view ??. Oh and it looks like rain just when I was planing to go and watch the nipper play his last came of football.

                  Re: Large pans

The first Pano .... I copied it and cropped in from Shell Beach on the left, to the moon on the right, and then 'letterboxed it' ..... brought up the 'lights' a bit and voila .... looks nice .....

Here's my take on it ... just a very quick fixup ....

                  What do you think ?

Yes that look ok Jem. I can see where you are coming from by cutting out all the dead sea space before the castle. I will be doing more of these over the coming weeks. Oh and I need to pick your brains over the 40d.
