  • Through the Arch

    Hi All

Just back from the States - sadly not enough time at the Arches National Park and my picture does not do the arch any justice in the least. This arch is call The Delicate Arch and is the most wonderful place I have ever seen. It's a tough little hike to the top and you don't see the arch until you walk around the final cliff. The view is breath taking.

    Enjoy

Hey Dave, the blue and the brown colours are very pleasing on the eye, but unfortunatley thats where it ends for me, I feel you could have got so much more from this shot, the concentration of the stone in the forground is neither here nor there when you have such a wonderful landscape before you! Fine, have a little stonework detail but not two thirds of the shot.
I hope you took lots more, have a think and post another, I just no you have taken some better!
    Ash.

I'd have to agree with Ash, I think you could have used the arch to greater advantage. If you do a Google search of Delicate Arch you will no doubt see many classic images of it and you hopefully will see what I mean.

I visited Arches myself a few years ago, though unfortunately never made the hike up to Delicate Arch. It was simply too hot and I was too tired from a previous hike to Landscape Arch, so I envy the fact you made it up there. As Ash says, I hope you took others whilst up there

I have to agree with the guys, too much stone in foreground! Would've been better gettong much closer & framing a shot through the arch! Oh well, we all learn a thing or two along the way, thats what life's about huh!

Oh, I'm quite envious. Must have been a wonderful sight, the colour of the stone against such a sky - nature's perfect palette. I sort of like the large expanse of rock, but would have liked to have seen more detail in the surface, though I can appreciate the light probably wasn't helping with that. I have done a 'google' and was surprised at just how big it is .. which doesn't come over in your photograph. I'm sure it will stay in your memory for a long time to come though.
