John, there are quite a few people on this site who are usually pretty free with their comments on other peoples photos. However they also like to see people offering some input too, and if they just see members posting their images without offering to comment on others then they might feel as though they were being taken advantage off. With all due respect you must offer some input to the forums if you are going to get others to spend their time commenting on your photos. Also if people spend their time critiquing your photos, which lets face it is not always an easy thing to do, then it is a good idea to acknowledge their effort. 4 people responded to your first post with the dog photos and you never acknowledged any of them

I think the first shot would have benefited from being able to see the child's expression had the photo been taken from a different angle! To me the 2nd shot is not straight & it does not seem to be thoughtfully composed beforehand! It does not have much appeal to me personally!

The 2nd is definately leaning to the left. I think it might also have been better had the guy stood a half step back and allowed the light to have shone up the front of his body.
