I have been thinking about this lately, what is a good photograph, is it technical or is artistic or is it something that relates to the photographer. I dare say its a combination of all of them. It is difficult to get across what one sees and feels when one wants to capture a moment............well this was one for me today, I felt this was My Moor............ just me and the open moor............Oh sorry the dog was there too......... if only for a few moments.

Mike, it is these sort of moments that one lives for as a photographer, and the emotion in you at the time is bound to come across in the end result. Even if the result straight out of the camera may not exactly be what you felt, it is possible to inject more through your processing. If you are passionate about these moors it will come across in the pictures you take. I think this is a good picture, and I have to say I have seen a definite improvement in recent months
I think my wife thinks I've gone do-lally........... She thinks I spend my whole time looking at the world like a photograph..............I admit I do look more carefully at most things now.
Here's another from today same area

Mike, I'd estimate you and I are of a similar age, and I find myself seeing more beauty in things now than I ever did. My wife is much the same, and when I try to explain to her what I see in a photograph or a scene, she looks at me with a knowing look and a smile. Its the same when I try to explain what I'm tasting in a good red wine, you just can't explain it
Now your getting spooky Stephen..................A good red wine or fine Port.........it must be the age.................shall we say middleish 40's to save our blushes.................I do think I see things with a different eye now and appreciate the what I did not see even 4 years ago
