  • Open to Critique

I uploaded this photo in the gallery in the hope that I would receive some feedback.
You ask me why I took the picture. Simply because of the colours. It was late afternoon, and I found the black on the red background appealing. But all advice will be well received.
The five Harleys were parked just behind.

    Re: Open to Critique

i like the candid of these fellows, and the background is very pleasing...much more in saturation would pull focus away from the main subject, which i assume are the men. what i find unfortunate is the loss of detail in the shadowed areas of their clothing. although there are some highlights, it's too much black for my taste.

    just my opinion

Thank you very much for your comment JonMikal
You are right. The leather is very black. However, that's what I find striking. And the main subject is of course these middleaged men who buy Harleys, join a club and then hit the road.

        Re: Open to Critique

The photo is very much a candid snapshot, albeit incorporating a classic view of the Grand Canyon I can see why the group caught your eye, but it doesn't really say anything to me, there is no emotion or story indicated in the picture. You mention the Harleys, and it may have been nice if had been possible to incorporate them in the foreground. As it is we are left with a snapshot of a snapshot taking with a group of rather camp looking guys in over shiny leathers

Thank you all for taking the time to look at my picture and for your comments. It is sometimes difficult to know whether others see the same kind of story in your own image as you yourself do. To me e.g. the new shiny leather is part of the story.
            Thanks again everybody.

                Re: Open to Critique

I have to agree that one guy in the middle looks rather camp. and I also wondered what he was looking at? the other 4 are looking across and he has his back to it.

Is he waiting for the other fella to take his pici.

The leathers look too shiny so to me they are a newly formed group.

I also would have liked to see a bike in the picture.

I too would have liked a bike in the picture. Unfortunately, they were too far behind me.

                    Hi There

To be honest I love the story behind the picture - right up my street.
