Very good shot indeed, especially considering you were hand holding a big lens. I would definitely increase the canvas size on the right to give some space to that long branch.

        Thanks .
Tom i did originally have a larger canvas but i cropped it to the top of the right hand branch because i did'nt like the empty white space .
        Thank Pops much appriecated.
one reason i posted this critique was because i wondered how you felt about the almost white background .
Dark grey sky but when i hit levels in PS it turned white , i feel it adds a different element ,almost like a pen and ink drawing .

Don't normally print straight away , but this one and the one in my gallery with the nest , are now in my hall .

I can see why Bob. The more I look at the shot the more I like it. The B/G has a blueish tinge for me which makes it slightly more sky like. Anyway you obviously did well to get a good exposure under the circumstances. Thee is something almost ballet like about it

Thanks Stephen , i was lucky in that i had a railing to rest my elbows on , without it , the dark conditions coupled with the 400mm focal length would have resulted in some shake , as it was ,i was surprised how well they'd turned out when i viewed them on the monitor.

I like this very much and the sky looks good to me - enough colour still in that sky and ideal to complement the bare branches and bird.

It's reminiscent of one of those oriental silk screens that you might find in expensive interior decor shops or smart antique outlets.

I'd rather succeed in getting a decent shot of a Heron for myself. I only have a few grotty ones off the Tamron 28-300 at the moment - none worth printing so far either.
