  • The Dairy

Following on from my Milk Crates thread, I was searching through the shots from the same set. When I originally took these back in November, I had not come up with a satisfactory way of processing the shots. I knew there was potential, but needed a little more inspiration to get what I wanted. The processing I have discovered in Lightroom seems to have provided that feel that makes the image give up more than just a record of the building. This shot is of the whole Dairy building. The milk crates were photographed down on the right hand side.

A better attempt, but still not timeless, the crates are still obviously modern, The lighting and mood are good, but there is no point of interest though, this results in a persons interest being held only briefly before moving on to something more interesting.

very pleasing image. i like the results you achieved in lightroom...nice detail and lighting. i have lightroom but have no clue how it works yet.

this image gives me more of an idea of what you were after in the 'milk crate' thread.

This for me doesn't say anything like as much as the "Milk Crates" a good shot yes, well produced yes, shows the charactar of the building yes, shows the grittiness of old Yorkshire yes. With all the yeses should be a winner but it misses out somehow.
Moving in close on detail of the building as with the Milk Crates is more effective and powerfully.

            Re: The Dairy

Here again the processing skills have enhanced the stonework but the building itself is just to similar to any number of buildings that can be seen throughout the Yorkshire/Derbyshire farms and villages.
If anything I would say that the foreground and the section on the extreme left have been darkened to much

I personally find this picture more stimulating than the mil crates and I also find what Peder has done really interesting too.

The image oozes tonality which just begs to be experimented with

Thanks for your comments everyone, much appreciated. Peder your attempts are interesting, though I'm unsure about the dark black skies. You may of course have been better with the original to work from instead of my processed version.

I think I know what you mean Patrick and do to a large extent agree with you.
