  • Cawfields Quarry

A former quarry on Hadrian's Wall (Northumberland). I felt that I was lucky with the sun, which was giving a beautiful light.

Brilliant Blithe, you were lucky. Last time I was up there it was foggy The sun on that outcrop is really intense, it reminds me a little of one of the desktop images used on Vista The warmth of the light also contrasts well with the icy looking water and grassy foreground. Lovely composition.

Really like the Reflection here Blithe , looks like a good place and the weather was kind .
As you've put it up for critique i'll only say i'd have moved a touch to the right and put the reeds on the left hand side instead of 2/3rds in .

Beautiful image Blyth. I have to agree with Bob, for my eye I would prefer the reeds a little more to the left. The colouring is outstanding.

Thank you for the comments. It is interesting what you say about the position of the reeds, as when I was taking the photograph I was very conscious of them and deliberately placed them against the light water so as not to cover the reflections of the trees to the left. I felt that it all fitted in like a jigsaw.
I perhaps could have moved over lightly - and got wet feet, it was very boggy.
