I like this sort of thing Alvar, I've done similar things on several occasions. Yours works well, though it looks slightly soft on the right hand side. Wonder of this is a DOF issue, though your EXIF shows F10. Was the camera square on to the subject?

Probably not but thanks for the consructive comments. I was actually on my way out with the camera when I noticed these threads on my wifes work table and literally "snapped" them,

Retake the image taking your time, a super colorful and lively image, I have seen these type of images used commercially, well worth retaking.

What a vibrant image. Like a child in a sweet shop, I love the rich depths in there. Funnily enough, I have just taken more or less the same photograph. I did find that mine did not keep the sheen of the threads so well though. Yours certainly jumps from the page.

I like this one as well it just seems to jump off the screen and it also just shows that some times we do not have to go far to get a great picture.
