Ok I no this picture is nothing special, but there is a distinct lack of postings and pictures on this forum, which is worrying, I first came to this forum about 4 years ago and it seemed to be alive with people posting pictures and comments and some harmless banter here and there, now it does not seem that way at all I have learned alot from this forum and I urge everybody on it, watching it, lurking it, and watever you are doing to post comments and pictures, otherwise one day it may not be here. Keep it going!!

Ok the pic, I was at a conference in harrogate last week and called at this castle, I only had my likkle cannon with me but went for a strole and got a few stills, there was a distinct chillness about the place and never really felt comfortable, managed to get a few shots. I really wish Ide had my slr, and really think its worth a trip back.

    cheers
    Ash.

Spofforth castle is not an easy one to get pics at. I found the light was always in the wrong direction due to its position. Anyway you don't seem to have done a bad job here, esp within the limitations of the small camera. I took some shots there at this time last year, I'll dig one out later

Yes I took a few others mainly closeups, nice place to wonder round though, there was only me there, which was nice, I dont like distractions unless I want them in the frame
cant wait to see your pic.

Hi Ash, just got in and found that shot of Spofforth taken last year. I have shown it here before but it didn't seem to be in my DPNow gallery. Anyway obviously its had some treatment and is far from being straight out of the camera, but then I rarely show anything unless its had some creative input from me.

Thats interesting because in your shot it looks like thats the ground at the bottom, but theres another floor below that, Its a great shot though, just a bit better than mine the light coming through at the bottom and then the light coming through another window which you cant see inside the tower window makes it very interesting.
There were alot of crows around that tower on friday morning, wonder if they were nesting inside.

This is another one I took which shows the what once was, two levels to the building.

            Hi Ash

Never been to this place so you got me off my backside to take a look- I'm only half an hour away.

Your shot kind of grows on me - I'm never sure about B&W.
Heres a shot through one of one of the windows .

                Thanks Ash
Very peaceful -only us there to enjoy it. Seems sort of strange hiding away in the corner of the field. We did a short walk from another picturesque village Sicklinghall a couple miles or so from Spofforth.
Called in here after the walk.
