    Another shot from my more recent session along the Thames. Critique is welcome but I hope you like it anyway.

    Nice one Tom, not really keen on such a tight crop but whatever floats ya boat! arghhh get it, boat try it in b&w, might give it an authentic feel.

      I can't help thinking the crop probably improves it, there could have been any number of distracting things in the cropped area, at the very least it probably wouldn't add anything by leaving the area in.

      For me, the thing that strikes me most about the scene is its linear nature. The picture is made up of a series of linear layers, starting with the water, then the boat, the shore, the reed banks, the power lines etc. etc.

      If anything though it seems to lack any great impact, I would like to see it much bigger I think.

      Not sure about B/W it could spoil something of the layer effect of the image.

        I agree. I think that b/w is not right for this photo. The colors are quite wonderful. I also noticed the horizontal linearity immediately. Having said that, this photo does not evoke a strong reaction in me. It somehow feels very flat and 2D. But that might be the desired effect. It's hard to say how it would look large and printed.
