Oh I see, I thought the idea of the post was to praise the pany's capabilities, thats how it came across anyway, sorry my mistake, still a great shot!

Sorry , I can now really see how you'd think that.

I'll have to post some Panasonic prints now - the boy's away at the moment so I'll see what he's got when he gets back.

      I'll get me coat....

Re: Lion in mono (now with Panasonic Lumix FZ18 shot)

As promised, and to put right the confusion earlier in the post, here's a shot taken at the zoo by my son with his new FZ18.

It wasn't taken on the same day as mine, he went back this week especially to try and get something similar to my shot. Unfortunately the subject wasn't as cooperative and didn't come so close and kept his eyes shut...

Anyway, taken hand-held (1/125 sec) at max zoom (that's 500mm @ 35mm equivalent! so the IS works!) and through dirty glass. This is from the original jpg, he forgot to switch to "P" to shoot jpg & RAW so I've still not seen what the RAW files can deliver.

I'm reasonably impressed and I think he'll get some good shots with this camera especially once he gets a little more familar with the controls and photograpy in general.

May I say oh wow. that is impressive.

I was lucky enough to get a trip there 2 years ago, will have to see about getting back.
