      Re: Abstrakt Photography.3.

I have been looking through all your sets of 'abstract' shots and feel that, for me anyway, these are closest to what I would interpret an abstract photo to be. In the days of Mr Adams, although you could do plenty in the darkroom, he still didnt have the scope of photoshop or the likes. For me, an abstract photo is one which doesnt present the subject matter in a readily idendifiable way. For example, in some of the other shots of the ducks on the water or the tractor tires, these to me are not in any way abstract. I like them as photos, especially the tires shot. Abstract to me is an image that is of something that is indiscernible from the reality of the subject matter - whether by taking it from an angle that it is not clear what the subject is, but still achieving a good image in itself - or by digitally manipulating an image into something altogether different. Mind you, in the latter there is then the fine line between an abstract photo and a piece of art. Perhaps they can overlap - again everyone will have there own views on that.

I like all these five shots in their own way. No1 to me is a nice shot of leaves reflected on water, but I dont personally feel it would be classed as abstract. The other four, for me, definitely come under that abstract / art umbrella. I especially like the composition and colours in No5 and could see it hanging on my wall as a large print. It is abstract - but it is also art.

Whether intended or not, I feel this set is a good example of starting with a photo which is not abstract and with each shot becoming more and more abstract until you get to No5 which is, for me, a perfect example!

      Cheers

No 1 is my favourite and No 2 is my second favourite.

I feel the need to have a go at doing something like No. 1. We have a tree in our garden that I have photographed against the light. I should like a result similar to this image.

        How did you achieve No.5?

              Hi pewidane,
I have followed your postings with interest, I do like abstract Art/Photography, and set three is in my opinion is closest to Abstract as I understand and percieve it, especially 4 and 5 which in my opinion are truly abstract, especially 5.
