  • Extra lighting!

Well my previous post for critique was most excellent regarding lighting. The following shot had living room lamps brought in close and it has made a LOT of difference. Am saving up my pennies to buy the kit you suggested Stephen. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this please.

    Many thanks

Not having ventured into artificial lighting I may be missing something but.....
this looks good to me. I see a bit of contrasting tone on the left shoulder that keeps pulling at my eye.
Be interesting to read comments from those experienced with lighting.

      Re: Extra lighting!

Looking at the Exif data it seems you used the on camera flash. Now this is a different colour temperature to household tungsten lights which you say you have used, so its best not to mix light sources in this way. For me the lighting is far too orange, which is an indication of Tungsten lights. If you set the cameras WB to Tungsten you will probably get a much better result. Also, if you look at the background it has an orange tinge to it whilst it should be all totally black. If you have PS you can use the black picker tool in the Levels dialogue to cure this though.

        hi

So I am viewing the picture on a small screen. In fact in the little boys room at my mother in laws just passing time but to me the lighting looks good in terms of coverage. And if you follow stephens advice on the blacks and temp. Then it will be a lot better
        Best regards
