    Hi Bigbob!

Obviously the title drew me to this thread straight away, as a lover of wildlife, I had to check out your gallery, and you have some super shots in there!
This one is superb. Where did you take these, I know there are a couple of places that have wild deer, one in Richmond, and one in The New Forrest. Also, where did you snap the raptors?

        Beautiful.
I just feel that the background is a little too blurred. Did you exaggerate this blur in Ps by any chance?

Thanks Ben , the deer were shot at Knowle park , nr Sevenoaks , Kent .
And the Eagles were shot at Eagle heights nr Dartford again here in Kent .
Ben was shot in my back garden
Tom , no PS on this , it was shot with a 70-200 lense plus 1.7 TC @ F2.8 hence the depth of field .

Many of my raptor shots were taken at the Hawk Conservancy, a super place for photography. If you ever fancy a day out, I would highly recomend it. Its in Andover.

            Cheers,
            Ben

(by the way, you have a wonderful Big Cat Sanctuary round your way that does photography days!, I spent a superb day there!)

Needless to say, Bob's gallery is well worth a look at:

The fact that the fawn (faun??) is doing something slightly unusual makes all the difference. I like the blurred background though I can see what Tom means - the far b/g is so blurred and yet the depth of field close the fawn is quite deep.

Got me thinking now Ian , the deer shots were taken during the rut last Nov and i assumed i had the 200mm lense on , now i'm wondering if i had my 80-400 on , this lense does give a strange Bokeh on certain backgrounds , alas the Exif does'nt help .
Ben i assume you mean the big cat private collection nr Welwyn garden city , i've shot there before , it's a great day out , good breakfast
I've love to go back again but times limited and their open days are so popular you have to book a year in advance now .
Andovers only a 2 hr drive from me , and i might just drive down one weekend , cheers.
I'll put a few more Eagles in the gallery .

Well, I look forward to seeing them, by the way, I actually like the blurred background, it makes the deer stand out more, so it gets a thumbs up from me!
The cat sanctuary is in Ashford, and my poor geography doesnt recal whether that is near Welwyn garden city. but it was a small place on an industrial park of all places!

                    well done.

the dof works for well me. love the detail in the fawn and surrounding vegatation, and colors.

                    nicely presented in a frame.

I went along with a photography club at work, so maybe if you could get a few more people along they will do a photography day for you.
