  • Now for something different

    Hello all!

I was trying out a new editing program a friend told me about. I ended up with this effect. At first I almost deleted it. But it started to grow on me so I kept it.Some of you may like this and some of you may not ! Either way I will not be upset! I just thought I would see what all of you thought.I still need to do some fine detail work in Adobe. The only Problem i see is that it makes the subject look grainy. I did not want to waste my time If I myself was the ONLY person who liked it! the framing was just fooling around i just want to know what you all think of the opposite b/w effect. the full color version is in my gallery If anyone is interested.

The black and white effect on the subjects (i'm assuming the subjects are the children, not the trees??) doesn't look so right to me, they look kinda lifeless...

        Hi,

I have to say, I love the pose, the composition etc is bang on. But I really dont like the effect, and why is it so grainy, was the ISO high?

I would definately recreate this, and take another shot.

I just looked through your gallery, and those compositions of Ben and Tom, are lovely by the way.

(Funnily enough, my name is Ben, and my brother is called Tom )

Less than 20 minutes work. Select edges with edge finder (this is very easy in Digital Image) convert selection to B&W. Adjust contrast for B&W. Click flatten image. Adjust overall exposure and add a bit of sharpening. Job done. Glad you liked it.

Another method of selective colouring but the selected areas are showing halo's in lots of places. If the programme is designed for making accurate selections then I'm afraid it is lacking in performance.

I assume the boys are you sons and it's great to have them posed doing boyish things (tree climbing). Surprised at the feet being chopped off and....
the boy at the top does look like he has his head bowed to avoid banging it on the frame.
Sorry to be so negative but that is how I see it
