Re: Out of depth
Pops, I'd forget the third one, but I definitely like the first and second shot. The second shot in particular is a more interesting angle and position to take a shot of the church and the inclusion of the path, banking and gravestones adds more interest to the shot

Re: Out of depth
Pops the main problem is the sky. That applies to all three images. When you said you took three pictures of the same subject I thought you were going to show three different exposures of the same scene. In fact that's just what you should have done. One under exposed to render the sky. One as is and one over exposure to show detail in the shadows. Blend all three images and you will have a much better image. Of the three the first would be my choice.Originally posted by Pops View PostI'm a bit out of my depth here so all comments welcome.
There are 3 shots but only 1 subject, hope it doesn't make commenting to confusing.

Re: Out of depth
I agree with the comments already aired here that No.3 doesn't work, fundamentally, while the others could be interesting if it wasn't for the bland sky. I'm not even sure adding a blue sky would work as the day is clearly a fairly drab one with unhelpful ambient lighting - there isn't a great deal you can do with a colour shot, though mono treatment could be worth a go.

Re: Out of depth
Pops,
I cant say the third shot does anything for me. As for the first two shots I cannot decide which I like better. I also think this would be a beautiful shot with blue skies and snow on the ground ! Hopefully that will be far into the future! What I like the most about the second is the angle. I like how you took the picture partway down the path and not at the top as most would do. I think that the inclusion of the graveyard gives the picture a sense of heritage and history. Nice pictures Pops, good job!

Re: Out of depth
I think the first is the better of the three. However I would have avoided all those uninteresting branches and zoomed in more on the building with perhaps a headstone or two in the foreground. There seems to be some very nice colours in the stonework. Before the loss of leaves I think the branches would have enhanced the scene better than this. By getting in closer to the church most of the skyless sky would be eliminated but you may end up having to straighten the walls as a result
.
Pops I think there is too much competition in the second with the tree, headstones and building battling for position and supremecy.
The third one brings out the stonework pretty well but not engage our interest so much.
