Hi John - it's really good. I wonder how many people predicted the demise of black and white photography when colour film first came onto the market!

I have had a look at the site you link to in your profile and there is plenty of interesting mono stuff there.

On our forum we are trying persuade people to use the gallery not just for displaying images in an organised manner in albums and categories, but also so that you can use our online storage, if you need to, so that you can include your images in forum posts, inline, rather than as thumbnail attachments. Of course if your image is already on your own site you can use the Insert Image button on the edit toolbar. Try it if you can

I think it's pretty good and you obviously had nice weather for the shot - in North Wales!?!

I love mono landscapes & portraits - probably because I spent years making mono prints in my dark room back in the "film age" - couldn't afford colour!

Personally, I dont think the small size does a picture of this justice.
I would love to see this in a larger format, and would definately encourage you to load it up to the gallery (about 750pixels on the longest size), and link it.

I love this sort of photography as there is just so much to lok at. Looks really nice though, very scenic!

Ya got me there, Ben - although it's an attachment, it is 750 pix on the longest side. You sure your browser isn't resizing it?

Ian, I'll have a look at your suggestion, though I'm not sure whether the world's ready ready for a proliferation of my stuff!

Stuart/Ben thanks for the comments; I'm never sure about b/w displayed through the web as people's screens are hardly ever calibrated similarly, but at least they're out there.

                  Re: 1st attempt

Too bad you didn't shoot it in colour...

(Don't hit me, I'm kidding, of course; someone once said that about one of my favourite B&W pictures, and it was virtually a silhouette. )

This strikes me as a well-crafted, impeccably composed photograph of a lovely scene, with excellent tonal range that brings out a lot of detail, and there's a lot of detail to show. It reminds me of early romantic landscape photography with large format cameras. It's a treat to look at.

                    Re: 1st attempt

It's a very full composition and the better for that. Lots of detail to examine. It would be nice to see a colour version (if one exists) just to compare.
I like this one very much.
