Hi All,

Have been away on a cycling trip on an old rail trail, Central Otago. Great area with spectacular skies. The last day there this storm brewed up from the South. A pause in the rain enabled me to take this shot. The original was a bit dull so I converted the image to a monotone and used the yellow to add punch to the image. My wife hates it - what do you think

love the composition. The small amount of land combined with the low horizon. Then the swirl of the clouds is really interesting. There is so much potential in this picture.

But IMHO the yellow does the picture no favours. Any chance you could have a go with a couple of other colours or maybe just B&W to see what that looks like?

I have a black & white version that I quite like. It just didnt seem to have the same punch that the yellow gave

Good picture that catches the conditions spoiled by an inappropriate colour, I see a tone being beneficial but not yellow.

That's a real maelstrom of a storm brewin' Trev. Like the others, don't like the sickly yellow. I think Patrick's version works much better.

Thanks Patrick. This looks good and in fact is a better tone that a B&W version that I printed out here. The warmth suits.

Trevor, sometimes wives make really intuitive decisions & this was one of them! Other than the colour, I like the pic & I bet your wife would prefer it B&W! (or even sepia!)

Could you possibly give us redo? I agree with Joycelyn about trying the sepia I think a mild sepia would be perfect for the scene. If you really would like to use a tone I would like to suggest a bluish gray tone but nothing overbearing! And to be honest if I saw a cloud doing that I would head the other way!! But, I'm a big giant chicken when it comes to electrical storms!
