  • 'Autumn' in Clumber Park

Taken this morning in Clumber Park - a couple of miles from where I live. The name of this avenue is Lime Tree Avenue. There are 2 long lines of lime trees on either side of a road. It is the longest of its kind in Europe. Planted in about 1840, it is almost 2 miles long and consists of 1,296 common limes.

I would be interested in your comments please. I haven't sharpened it - perhaps it needs a little.

A super low angle adds to the image, I just want to kick my way through the leaves..................very nice

      Hi,

When i looked at the picture I felt it was a little washed out so I thought my critique would be best represented by having a play with the file. So I deepened the blacks a little, tried to pull back the highlights a little and added extra satuartion to the reds and oranges.

      Here is the results.

      Best Regards

I like both versions - perhaps Josh's is a little sharper, and I think it has benefited from the extra saturation.

Now I'm off to follow Mike kicking through the leaves.....

Lovely picture, but who's got to pick all those leaves up?

Thanks for the input. I was already having a look at another image which is more saturated. Just a slightly different angle - I was also trying out the three different metering modes.

            Which do you prefer?

I like the last photograph which you have posted. It has a late afternoon feel to it and the darker trees give a greater sense of depth. I think I would darken the bottom left hand corner as it keeps pulling my eye. The whole scene makes me think I have just stopped to bend down to pick something up, a pretty leaf perhaps, or a stick to throw for the dog. The colours are just right in this one IMO.

Yep this one is much better than the first. The colours are more lively.

Love the low angle for both shots very much. The 2nd is much better with the stronger colours. The angle has given it a really nice feel.

Really like your 2nd shot Audrey! Angle & saturation! Do the trees actually bear fruit? Just think (if they bore fruit) it would have really stocked up tall ships cargo to stop the 'limeys' from getting scurvy enroute from Europe to Spice Islands! (wrong date in history tho' but I'm just havin' ya on a bit! )

                        Hi,
Love the low viewpoint, different and eyecatching, the second image is better, love the autumnal feel of the images.
