Visited the Black Country Museum today.

For those that dont know, its a live museum recreating the victorian industrial heritage showing, old houses, factories, shops, a pub, a church of the period, all of which were original demolished buildings, rebuilt to create this time capsule.

Here a a few of the pictures from my day.

A cracking set of images Patrick. The third is my particular favourite. Some of the images are quite sombre, fitting, perhaps, the 'industrial grime' of the age

Very nice all of them, apart from the third, I feel for me it carried a little to much shadow. the rest are great in B/W and fit the theme perfectly

Posted this picture of a coal burning pumping station being demonstrated, as it gives the reason how the area of Wolverhampton, Willenhall, Bilston etc, got the name Black Country.
Imagine hundreds of such buildings, foundries and smelting works all belching out this black acrid smoke, not to mention the thousands & thousands of small terraced house with their domestic coal fires doing much the same. Everything must have been coated in soot permanently.
It's a wonder the sun ever got the chance to shine through it all.

I did wonder if they were b&w photos or if that was the colour!

This one reminds me so much of my grandmothers outside scullery. It bought back memories of stoking up the fire underneath the copper boiler.
I easily imagined myself standing at that sink and could visualize the old mangle that would have been behind me.

                        Dam...gone all moody now

A super timless set of images Patrick, I do wish that they would all be posted as full sized images one after the other though, I think it would have given a much nicer representation of your day.

Too many images to critique for me, but all in all, superb, especially the shop keeper image. I reckon converted to aged sepia would be really nice with this image.

Just trying to honer Ian,s rules for photo critique, one picture per post.
I don't know how to post a picture that shows a large size, I only seem to be able to post the thumbnail that opens up to the bigger size.

Many thanks for your and everyone else's commens.
