Finished a month long visit to China with a visit to the panda sanctuary. Taken just last week.

I wondered why you'd gone AWOL. Nice pic Tom, its a pity it can't be in its natural environment, but I suppose then you'd be unlikely to ever see them

I love the tones in the picture. I think they go very well with the (imho) somewhat sad scenario, accentuated by the bars in the window. Quite thought-provoking really.

I think Ian has summed up my own feelings.

The tones and the stones are lovely, the panda is beautiful and he/she is also safe, secure, fed, watered and well cared for. I have to agree conservation is vital ....... but I wish he/she didn't look so sad.

          Thanks Everybody
Your comments mirror my own feelings on the photograph. Lonliness was the emotion I got from it but I'm sure the inclusion of one of his/her colleagues would change all that. But this is my favourite of all the Panda shots I took, mosdt of which are happy ones. The sanctuary thankfully is not a zoo and a wonderful environment has been created for them. In the sanctuary they are treated like royalty. I daresay anyone found killing one here or in the wild would be first against the wall the following morning.
Elsewhere someone suggested cloning out the window and I thought well....
          Thanks again
