  • Romany Creams

I took a few shots the other evening of some lilies in a bouquet! It was only once I started editing some shots in CS2 that I thought....ooooh...should've taken a couple out for specimen shots instead. I've chosen this particular shot as the anthers remind me of some yummy chocolate biscuits called Romany Creams...hence the header! Your critique, suggestions & comments welcome!

Hi Jocelyn, a super image this and yes it certainly looks yummy, did you repost an edited version?, I looked earlier before logging in, and this image seems to be an improved version, the critiques I was to post seem to have been met in this image. It may well have been my monitor warming up though.
      A lovely macro image.

I posted the incorrect pic to begin with & edited to replace not long after, hence Ian's comment about no pic visible! I had deleted the other first! I will be downloading this & other pics to my gallery. I took a series of photos yesterday but need to edit first! This one caught my eye, so I put it up for critique. One needs a little objectivity sometimes, which the critique forum does fairly eloquently. Thanks for your comment Tinka

I feel the picture is a little over exposed and with to much contrast, flowers are delicate things and delicate prepossessing shows them off best.
Also the big black triangle at the bottom distracts enormously from the subject as does the smaller one on the right. I find myself looking at these more then the flower.
I do a lot of this sort of thing and I know its difficult to frame without these distractions, a white background would help. Using a sheet of A3 drawing paper or something similar punch a hole in the middle for the flower stem, and try re-photographing the flower.

            Re: Romany Creams

I find the stamens lovely and sharp but the petals overexposed to the extent of losing all detail.
I agree with patrick about those black areas as well.

Thanx for your input Patrick & Pops! I agree, the black bits do detract from the whole!
