  • Sunrise Reflections

As we approached Lisbon, the sun was rising under the suspension bridge (previously shown).

I turned around and saw the glow of the sun on the railings together with the reflections on deck.

I like this image as a pattern, but would be interested if you think cropping would improve it.

I would also appreciate any feed back.

It doesnt quite leap of the page for me. I love the image and with a touch more (just a bit) contrast I'd say beautiful.

I agree that more contrast would heighten its effect. To me, the sky doesn't seem quite blue enough to complement the orange properly. I tried cropping it several different ways myself but didn't come up with anything to my satisfaction so I can't offer anything in that department.

The pattern sure caught my attention, though. Good eye.

        Hi Autumn,
A great image with potential, minor tweeking and would make a great image for an office wall or engeneering company's calendar

Here is a more contrasty version, I'd used a BW layer on top (convert by using a separate Hue and Sat layer, desaturate then on select colour at layer property, then move to the colour layer and adjust the contrast by decreasing the red then increase both blue and green with Curves to archive the contrast -hope is not too long winded) and select 'softlight' on the layer property.

Thanks Danny, although I am not sure that it is more contrasty. I think it loses the pinky glow and appears more grey.

I was just considering giving it some more saturation. I'll have a go and repost.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. I find them really helpful.

I think I kinda agree with you Audrey, infact your original when put into Photoshop looks a bit better. Anyway I simply teaked levels to increase contrast, altered saturation a smidgeon, then applied a subtle vignette

Thanks Stephen, just about to post something similar. It is about as I like it.

                  Re: Sunrise Reflections

I HAVE cropped it (what do you all think?)

I used curves to increase the contrast and saturation and then increased the exposure by .33.

It's possibly still a bit dark.

Well I think it's a belter and I love it!

The overall pattern and composition is amazing and the colours, sunlight and shadows on the foreground rails are superb!
