  • Line astern

Took this some time ago with a canon 2mb S100. Quality obviously not that good but my main concern here is, Dose the treatment distract from the image?

Depends on what you want from the image, I find it attractive, like a plate/image found in books, especially childrens books.

In my opinion the treatment does detract ones eye & therefore spoil the overall pic, especially top right corner. Wow...could those geese really sit on & hatch out 17 goslings! Talking of kids books which this would be great for as mentioned previously, reminds me of an Art Linkletter show years back was asked what a baby goose was called...a little kid said very eagerly...I know...I know...its a goblin!

I am more concerned about the lack of space for the column to swim into.
i.e. the crop on the left is to tight

Thanks everyone for your valued views on this one. This is a shot that had already been processed and framed. I had seen this effect used in a magazine and rather liked it. They had a squarer image of two swans. I decided to see if I could produce the same effect with my limited software. This was the only suitable image that I had and the original is not on my hard drive. So being slap dash as per normal I used the already framed version, hence, as Pops pointed out, the cropping was too tight. I think that with a better suited subject and careful application this could be a usable effect.

It's purely down to personal taste - I think the idea is good, but maybe some of the edging is a bit too rough?
