Good question Julia. With that much of the Cava gone I am not sure what I had in mind.
Actually, I was watching the people on the beech and thought I would take a photograph including the glass. I was also interested in trying to get the shadow of the palm trees in the image.
Because the view through the glass was blurred, I focused on some people on the beech to the left of the glass. I think I thought it would make the view through the glass clear. (I know I have read that if you can't get a focus on something, focus on something next to it.) Well of course, it was next to the glass but 100 yards or more away.
It was only when I downloaded it that I saw the result.
I suppose I wanted to include the Cava within the holiday picture. Also, through our Phographic Society, there is a challenge from a new local Wine Shop. There is a competition whereby we have to submit images depicting wine. I know it is not suitable for that, but all the time I was trying to think of what I could do towards my entry. (I still haven't done it. )
I have obviously learnt something. I thought I had straightened the top of the glass, but that could have been better, I can see it is a bit off.
There are other tries - I may post. Thanks for your comments Julia.
Hi,
What a great idea, I feel the glass should be sharp and in focus and perhaps at a different time of day to avoid the hard shadows, super idea and concept though.
I would have preffered the glass to have been focus.
The glass does dominate the space and there is nothing else of any real single interest. i.e. a cluttered background with no single point of interest. This would have been a nice beach scene without the glass but...the glass is there and I feel should have been the main focus point
Thanks for that Pops. I agree with you. I have some fantastic beach scenes (as I am sure many of you have). I also have some more simple pics of the cava. I am thinking of a way to post them without cluttering up the site too much.

Thanks Tinka. I am going through a "Lost my Mojo!" like someone else recently. Therefore on holiday, it is an ideal time to try something new, when not playing "Catch up."

Audrey - do you follow John Washington's photoblog? Here's the link just in case you don't have it.
He's done several interesting shots through glass, walkways, windows when the glass was smeared, dirty or maybe wet. Your shot through the wine glass put me in mind of some of his previous blog shots.
It's a shame the glass, or at least the stalk, wasn't in focus. The picci is better if the stalk and the top rim of the glass is cropped off.
Ok - it didn't quite work out as intended this time but it's nevertheless an interesting picci imo.

If you have that many you could always build an online web album and post the link. There are lots of free album sites around.
