Sorry, you would have to resize and repost, alternatively use the smaller version in your galleryOriginally posted by mr bultitude View PostFirst off, can I resize the image within the thread? can you add width and height to reduce the size?

I love this shot. The colours of the sky are wonderful and so subtly reflected in the water. I also like the 'smoky' effect on the water - presumably done with a slow shutter speed.

I love these sort of pictures and especially the effect on the water, did you use any filters to take this picture? or was the light sufficiently low to allow the long shutter speed.

Only thing i dislike about this shot is the squareish format. Things look a little cramped and more width would have been great.
Other than that I feel your effect works very well.

Pol,Mowgli, I used a neutral density filter to allow for just a little longer on the exposure. I also used a neutral gradient filter to give a little more exposure on the rocks and water. I used 3 photo's for this image. I had one shot that had less water in the bottom left hand corner so I blended this in, and a shot that brought out the rocks in the picture more clearly.
Tom,
The original framing of the shot moved out to the right much more, with more open sea. I sat for some time trying to get a good crop so perhaps you are right, maybe I over did it!Last edited by mr bultitude; 12-09-07, 11:26 AM.

Many thanks for sharing your technique so generously.
I'd thought you may have used a ND filter but wouldn't have sussed the graded one. Nor would I have guessed there was more than one image blended.
Nice work, well worth the effort imho.

(to late if you do
) but I cropped some of the bottom and lightened the center a touch and then darkened the corners a little.
Supper atmospheric shot, Beautiful light and sky, the movement in the water is just well perfect for this picture.

Yes, the crop did lose some rather nice detail from the bottom, but hell what's Photoshop for but to sort these things out, clone it back after cropping.Originally posted by mr bultitude View PostI like the shape of your crop, it suits this sort of image better but you've lost the detail in the stones on bottom left I made sure to keep in the image. I might go back to the original image and try re-cropping.

I prefer this version, it has much more balance than the original oneOriginally posted by mr bultitude View PostHere's another picture I took of the same scene.

Used a wider crop this time, there's a higher level of saturation in this one too, not sure which one I like more...
