  • Silhouette sun umbrella

Just trying something different whilst on holiday in Majorca. I saw the sun dropping behind the sun umbrella and though I would try a shot.

    Comments welcome please.

That's an interesting looking shot Audrey and an unusual presentation. Always nice to see something different. But composition wise I am not too sure whether I like it or not. I'll have to come back tomorrow and have another look.

Thanks for the reply Tom. I am not too sure either. The truth is that I shot it with the umbrella 'pole?' coming from the corner ie at an angle and didn't like it so I rotated it and that is what I got plus a bit of messing about with the background. I liked the blend of the top left hand corner.

I also took atst some more conventional shots which I will have a look at and see if they are worth posting later.

Sorry autumn but I don't like the composition at all. Makes it look like everything has been chopped off and smothers the natural flow of the palm fonds.

Here is a more conventional shot. Does it work any better?

You may wonder what I was trying to achieve. I was wandering around the beach with my camera and saw the sun dropping through the sunshade. I thought the palm trees also silhouetted, made a bit different picture.

I like this one best but I don't know what I am going to do with it.

              Re: Silhouette sun umbrella

I think that Kambiz is saying he can't "See" my image. Can anyone else not see my image?

The reason I ask, is because there may be a bug in the prog, as I was using my friend's computer in Majorca last week (dial up ) and was going to reply to a post. Although it said Welcome Autumn, I was unable to complete the post - in fact type anything.

Also, when I followed a link, I just came up with a blank page, even if I followed the link from my e mail.

Is this a fault generally, when trying to view DPNow from out of the UK?

Hi can see your image fine, I like the second image posted, but not the first, however I like your approach and can see where your comeing from, silhouettes can make some interesting and creative images. I think the exposure is spot on, IMO.
