    You've been playing with a I/R effect, haven't you?

No not really just the green channel in lightroom. I was not trying to get an IR effect just using it to lighten the image.

There is a nice dreamlike feel to this and the toning works very well. This in colour may well have looked a bit cliched.
I really like the sight of the hill and fields through the trees at the top.

It looks soft and sweet - don't know why but I have always thought of Birminham as a very built up sort of place - miles and miles of urban sprawl. it seems that way when you travel through it.

You have to get out of the trees to see the wood With Brum its a very green place but to have to get onto one of the hills that ring it to see it fully. I know what you mean about sprawl it feels like that sometimes.
