    Hello all,

Here are some pictures from a night at the rodeo. My main question is :When lighting is less than Ideal and you cannot get closer what should i have done? When you examine these photos you will see what i mean. I have since invested in a monopod. At the time I was in the stands and it was standing room only! no room for my tri-pod!

Jennifer see my reply in your other thread,
A monopod of course won't help freeze movement

Haha! These pictures live up to your user name

I like the last one best - you could straighten the horizontals, though.

In all these shots there is a lot of subject movement and a quick look at your picture exif data in the gallery shows a shutter speed of only 1/60th - you really need 1/250th or 1/500th for this kind of action-freezing. It looks like the light was fading (evening time?) so you would probably have to go up the ISO range and open up the lens aperture.

        Ian,
I was just curious, would shooting in raw make any difference?

Not in terms of freezing the action, though you would be able to recover under-exposed areas and control noise better, all useful if pushing the exposure in low light conditions or when you need a faster shutter speed.
