  • Trumpets Revisited

Re-shot of an image I posted several years ago. First time with a Fuji A-101, this time with a Panasonic TZ1.
Maybe one of these days I will get a real camera? - should I live so long.

It's a gorgeous flower but I think it deserves a plainer background. Personally I would have moved to the left more and taken the wall and the handle out of the frame.

Is this any better. Five minutes work in PSP. Hope you don't mind me modifying your image.

Moving left would definitely be an option. Spot metering would have also almost darkened the background out of the picture, but that will have to wait until next year. For some reason these blossoms only lasted a day, guess the rain beat them off.

I also cropped out a similar version, but thought I would post a partial crop. In the full version there is a single flower in the bottom of the frame, and more wall. I also could have used the tele-macro function to drastically reduce the depth of field, blurring the background out of recognition. All ideas for next time, or maybe the next camera, who knows?.

If you had Photoshop or the likes, you could do selective blur to background & darken....or change the background completely using another pics background!
