It looks more high key than high contrast to me. Its brought out the detail of the boat well but the background is a bit problematic for me - it looks too grainy and overexposed.

In my experience, graininess and having to over-expose goes hand in hand with this kind of 'lith' high contrast imagery. It looks quite normal for me. In my view the detail like that shouldn't be the dominating factor in one's appreciation of the image - I think it's a very good picture. It would make a very desirable print.

I like this. Only problem is it reminds me that I should experiment or be more adventurous with my own work. Nice result.

I would also describe it as High Key and as such presented it a little differently.
gently vignette the bottom two corners to base white this would focus even more attention to the boat.

Supper image however it is presented.

            Re: Abandonned

I like this version Roger........... much better than the other one you posted fairly recently in fact. Somehow taking the colour out and making it high key has concentrated the eye more on the boat, with its interesting textures and patterns, and of course the derelict feel to it. However I'm left wanting to see more detail that is just lacking in the one posted here.

I searched out the version in your gallery and the larger version is just what I wanted to see, it has much more impact and you can see the detail lacking in the one above. Somehow you have created something here that was lacking in the original shot, perhaps you have put more of yourself into the image.

                Re: Abandonned

Guess it's all down to personal preference and interpretation but I don't see 'High Contrast' here at all. I see wasted white space and a boat wreck with a marked lack of detail.
Following the link which Stephen kindly searched for I see the same scene which is much more pleasing to the eye. The larger size also helps show more detail.

I like it, it'd make a good print for a very modern bright house, woul be suited to the living room/hall or a large bright bathroom. I think its nice and simple yet detailed. More art then a photograph, however, photography is a art ... so ya

                    Hi,
Yes like the image in the galery, very arty and would look good on the wall of a beach villa or seaside property. go on hang it on the wall.

                      Re: Abandonned

Agree with above conclusions that the pic in gallery shows more detail & is great....I would go as far as experimenting with extreme contrast on boat selectively to see what that would look like or using a 'linedrawing' effect on boat in B&W

Something like this....hope you don't mind me playing with your pic...but to clarify what I mean...although not quite the correct effect as I don't have the correct filter for linedrawing... here goesClick image for larger version
