  • I've got my eye on you

I like this shot; the duck's shape is good and she's got her eye on me (seemingly more in the hope for a feed than out of suspicion). I had thought about cropping out the bottom of the foreground and off-setting Miss Duck to the left? What do you think?

I like this shot too - the colours are good and the image is sharp. Think I'd agree with you - just cropping a little off the bottom of the image to just below the top of the step (?) would, in my opinion, improve it. As to off-setting her left, I'm not sure.

She really did have her eye on you - definitely fixed you with the beady eye!

to be honest Ian, I like it as is, if I was going to crop any off the bottom, I would keep it to a minimum.

I like the centralised position as well, makes it more dramatic.

      Super shot, love it!

First thought was 'this is not right'. A small subject smack bang in the middle just doesn't work.
I cropped each side in turn and it looked worse. Then I cropped almost up to the top of the step, just below that weed, and took some off both sides. That worked for me even though the duck is still in the centre.
I think it was the disproportionate height of the original that didn't make it look right moreso than the subject being central.

Yep - I had similarly feelings; which is one reason why I thought I'd pop it on the Critique board for some feedback
