What do you guys think of this type of photo? These are from a couple of statues I found in the Napa CA area last year. The shot of the statue by it's self was kind of boring to me. I read an article about spliting, fliping and merging two halves of a photo and decided to give it a try. Some folks like this stuff and some don't but I find that some of them can be intersting.

Hi Mark - the first one is intriguiing as it seems that the design is made up of a mirrored surface - how did you do that?
It was an abstract sculpture with a highly polished chrome surface. The sun was bright that day and caused the highlights and flares. I position myself low to the ground to get as much sky and sculpture in the frame as I could. With photoshop I cropped, copied, flipped and pasted different sections of the sculpture until I got the one you see here.
These are fun for me but my wife doesn't like them. I have one of the top of a wooden fence post that looks like it is floating in air that I like and she hates. No accounting for taste I guess. ;-)
I would love to do some of these of the waves at the beach if I ever get near one.
I really like the first image, everything being so sharp and precise. The reflections in the curves carry the eye round the form. Enjoyed looking at this one.
The red one looks somewhat devilish, but I do like the red against the clear blue, and it is interesting that the parts look discrete, almost floating.
