    Re: Horse Portrait

    two nice photos there.
    A lovely looking horse.
my only critism is you have cut the horses ears too much on the first,

I may have tried to go for a tighter crop on the second. as I find the darkness of the back detracts, after the sun on the face.

      Hi FP,
I knew there are some problems with them so I went back to do this

      Thanks for your comments

I'd say, the 1st would be great, but he does need some ears otherwise I like the hedgerow, tree & grass background, more topical: horses-fields, and contrasts the horses colour which is makes him bold, just my thought.

Much better angle. I like this one.

              Re: Horse Portrait

Hi Mike, here's my two penneth: The third shot is much better composition-wise but is a little soft. The first one, as well as cropping his ears the framing is somewhat unflattering (don't suppose the horse is bothered though!) Number two of number one has good detail in the face and muzzle although I think the depth of focus is too shallow plus he is being "speared" through his right shoulder by a green object. Hope this helps.

                Hi Jojo,
Your points on the first 2 are indeed correct, And yes he was miffed at being shown in an unflattering way
On the third, which was taken in the afternoon sun as opposed to the midday sun of the first two, I liked the softer light and think it gives him a gentle look of a young horse, hes only 14 months old.
Once again thanks for the feedback
