      I used an EOS 20D & EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 lens, ISO 100 1/8 sec @ f10 on AP.

      I live in Seaham, Co Durham and we have many areas where fields have patches of poppies.

        I also use an EF-S 17-85mm (and quite like it) - looking at your settings I'm guessing the IS works well for you or was the camera on a tripod? Must have been a fairly still day either way?

        Did you try sharpening the photo at all? - looks like it might stand a little.

          Hi Dave,

          Congratulations on being number 500 - shame there's no prize.

          As to your picture. I like the central poppy but my eye is constantly drawn to the poppy in the background. Being out of focus helps a little but the contrast between the red poppy and the blue sky just makes it stick out and draws the attention away from your main subject. I'd be inclined to clone this out.

            Welcome to DP Now! Wow, You are the 500th member! You have joined up with a great group of people from all around the world. I was kind of scared when I first joined but quickly found out how nice everyone was! I do love the picture But I do agree about the poppy in the backround . Overall I think that it is a lovely picture! I would love to see more of your pictures and we all look forward to seeing them soon!
