Trevor & I went on a trip to the lower part of the South Island in order to capture the beautiful autumn scenery. This little house was a restored miners cottage in a reserve at Arrowtown. It was charming and begged to be photographed.

Indeed it did Dianne, though the larger version is much better The house which I assume is actual size, seems dwarfed by the trees. Love the colours, looks like Autumn in NZ is quite spectacular.
ps. Wondered where you had both got to recently, I've missed your great photographs. Hope to see some more soon

Definitely charming and a delightful capture! I love it!
My immediate feeling is that it's like a fairytale setting where 'the little people' live in a world of giants.
I can see why you had to photograph it, it has an almost fairy-tale feel. Lovely colours but it seems to be lacking a bit of definition in the yellow leaves at the top right, possibly due to shrinking the image for posting.

Vernon.
Vernon, we need to see you here more often - a nice well judged set of comments posted tonight (even if you faulted one of mine ).
Hi Dianne, I took the liberty of making some technical changes to your picture. I noticed it had been posted in Adobe RGB space, so viewing in a web browser robs it of some of its colour. I've also slightly sharpened it, in response to Vernon's feedback and marginally darkened the shadows. It actually still looks more saturated in Photoshop, but this is a bit punchier than before - of course you may not like it as I have changed it - I'd be very interested to hear what you think, though.
Thanks for the kind words, I just "say what I see". As I mentioned in a couple of posts, work during the week and re-enactments at weekends have stopped me getting here as often as I'd like. I'm going to try and rectify that (all work and no play etc.).
Certainly more "punch" and converting the colour space has brought out more in the reds and orange as you'd expect. Overall an improvement but some of the yellow leaves look as if they may be burning out.
Trevor is usually more interested in the technical parts of photos. He would have set up my computer as Adobe RGB. However it printed OK. I really like how this has come out with your charges. I am reluctant to sharpen my images these days as a couple of Judges have referred to digital image sharpening, so I generally only use levels and occasionally shadowhighlights modification. Trevor put an action in my computer that enhances the image using lab channels that I can use to "lift" an image.

The judges are probably spot on, but for posting to the Web, some careful sharpening will be required after resizing the image downwards. Sparing is the word
If you are using Adobe RGB and printing, you would profit from getting your printer and paper combination profiled. Adobe RGB is a wider gamut than most photo printers, so there could be a mis-match without a properly profiled setup. Apologies if you or Trevor already know this
